Futurology Event: A seminar exploring the future

past present future

Futurology Event | Sat 30 May 2pm / FREE | Arnolfini.

Who makes your future? It’s easy to think that the future is out of our hands, something that rushes to meet us that we can’t control. Maybe it feels as if looking after the future is a job for scientists or governments, and the best we can hope for is to try and keep up with the huge changes that seem to be bearing down on us. Or perhaps it’s nothing to do with us: biometric chips, or gene therapy, or space tourism will all happen somewhere else in the world.

But is that really how it is? The future is made up of all the things we do today and tomorrow and the day after that: the world we’ll end up with is the one we build right now, here in Bristol. During this seminar, we’ll describe outbreaks of the future that we can see from the window, and explore the ways they might affect or be brought about by different people. By the end of the day we’ll all have a better understanding of the things we could do to build a world we’ll want to be living in.

Join us and meet in Arnolfini foyer this Saturday.
