Talk

Semiconductor will give a presentation on their work and their five month fellowship at NASA's Space Sciences Laboratory, UC Berkeley, California where they explored the techniques, materials and philosophies scientists employ to discover and experience near space.

Performance

Semiconductor will perform two image and sound works and screen a short film programme:

Brilliant Noise

After sifting through hundreds of thousands of files collected by satellites orbiting the Earth, Semiconductor bring together some of the suns finest unseen moments, in a performance version of their film Brilliant Noise, with a live soundtrack produced by sampling the brightness of the image in real-time.

Sonic Inc.: Where has the Future Gone?

Inspired by the challenge to create and manipulate an entire work of sonic animation in real-time, Semiconductor have custom-made their own live performance software, Sonic Inc. The performance is a joint effort that sees Semiconductor creating forms and compositions on the fly though a process of drawing and manipulation, whilst the computer ‘listens' to the audio, realising and animating the digital creations to its resonance.
