BAE develops "Spider Man suit"

Bristol-based BAE Systems may be on track to creating the first Spider-Man type outfit. Using research by scientists at the Polytechnic of Turin into geckos' natural ability to adhere to smooth vertical surfaces, BAE has announced the development of 'Synthetic Gecko' - a material made of thousands of polymer filaments so strong that a one metre strip would be capable of hoisting a family car into the air. Potential uses of the product could include patches for damaged aircraft or tyres capable of gripping smooth surfaces. Read the full story.
