Bristol-based Enable, a digital agency providing creative, strategy and technology services to a range of brands and global organisations, launched World Wildlife Fund's virtual island today in online world Second Life.
On Conservation Island residents can buy an ice-cream from Mr Tangee, the orang-utan who runs the ice-cream van, and learn about palm oil (staple ingredient of ice-cream, cosmetics and chocolate bars) which threatens to destroy the world’s greatest forests, befriend a panda who will tell them about environmental issues and explore a town powered by a wind-powered pinwheel.
Conservation Island isn't the only virtual world Enable have created recently - WebbliWorld a social networking and entertainment site for children was launched in July, produced in partnership with Aardman.
Darius Pocha, Creative Director at Enable, joins a panel of industry speakers at the Creative Technology Network Games Workshop on 6 September, to discuss building the WWF campaign.
