Futuristic transport pioneered in Bristol

Bristol based Advanced Transport Systems has delivered to the new Heathrow Terminal 5, an innovative solution to the problem of transporting passengers between car park and terminal. Signaling a huge advance in transport technology the ULTra is a driverless electric podcar which runs on a dedicated network, available on demand like a taxi but using only a quarter of the energy with zero exhaust emissions.

Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) makes public transport as convenient as private transport, and the Heathrow scheme is being watched carefully to see if the technology could be transferred to towns and cities. Read the full report.
