Researchers at Tokyo university have created a life sized human robot which can imitate the steps of a dancer. Shin'ichiro Nakaoka programmed the robot - named HRP-2 or Promet - using video capture techniques to record human dance movements. New Scientist reports that the researchers used video motion-capture systems to record the movement of a dancer. They turned this data into a limb-motion sequence.
A robot which can perform human like actions is a huge advance and could come into its own doing jobs on factory production lines or within the military. Read more at The Guardian and at Kawada Industries site.
