Staying ahead: the economic performance of the UK’s creative industries, a new report by The Work Foundation, highlights the need for collaboration in the pursuit of new ideas, products and knowledge:
'Where market and technological change is rapid, knowledge and new solutions are seemingly infinite. No single firm can hope to go it alone without mobilising outside resources.'
The report also cites the MIT Sloan Management Review's research that the typical share of innovation arising from external sources was around 45 per cent.
Commissioned by the Department of Culture Media and Sport, the independent report analyses the nature, role and scope of the creative industries in Britain.
