The South West Regional Development Agency is encouraging the region's ICT companies to benefit from research funding from the Great Western Research (GWR) programme. An ICT strand has been added to the GWR, which is a 5-year, £14m initiative enabling research collaboration between South West Universities and businesses. ICT companies based in the South West or which have a significant presence in the region and which are commercial entities with a passion for innovation and creativity are eligible to apply for 50% funding for their research project through the GWR programme.
GWR Project Manager Paul Hunt says, 'areas of potential collaboration for research studentships within the field of ICT in the South West have been identified to reflect our areas of particular strength, such as wireless communication systems and networks, silicon chip design and production including Multimedia chip design, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and Mobile and Pervasive Media.'
A launch event to learn more about the project will be held Tuesday 25th September at Bristol and Exeter Universities. For more information, click here.
