The Technology Strategy Board has launched its strategic plan Connect and Catalyse - a strategy for business innovation with a budget of more than £1 billion for the next 3 years. There are three areas of focus:
- challenge-led innovation
- technology-inspired innovation
- the innovation climate
Annual investment in these areas will be in a ratio of 50%, 25% and 25% respectively by 2011.
The budget for 2008-2001 is made up of £711m from DIUS (Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) and funding from the Regional Development Agencies of £180m and £120m from the Research Councils.
