Nigel Derrett

Nigel holds a BA in Mathematics and a D.Phil in Computing from the University of Oxford. Nigel was a lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Aarhus for 9 years, after which he moved to Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, rising to the position of Director of the Personal Systems Laboratory, with 100 staff in the UK, Japan and the USA. He was responsible for ensuring the commercial exploitation of the results generated in the research laboratory. In 2000 he became Director of Strategy for Psion plc, then in 2001 he became an independent consultant, specialising in product strategy and long-term thinking for companies in high-technology markets. In 2005 he became a Senior Project Manager in the Research and Enterprise Development Department at the University of Bristol and joined 3CR as a Project Manager. He became CEO of 3CR in September 2007.
